Knitting In Reverse

let's take a moment to acknowledge my sister. i really havent emphasized that she is my sugardaddy when it comes to wools and needles and books and patterns and pretty much anything pertaining to knitting. way to be related to someone with an overflowing stash! i guess im not very good about saying where my yarn is from and all, but lots of times everything is from her. if any advertisers are reading this, consider sending her a banner so she can make some more money to buy more yarn to increase her likelihood to send it to me! :D

anyways, the aforementioned sister sent me a book in my last yarn shipment, handknit holidays. this book has some nice stuff, but l a lot of it makes me feel like its only a couple steps from knitting wallpaper. i have made things though! i made the elf hat in a dark olive green so my boyfriend could feel like link from zelda. i also started the stained-glass scarf, which was really cool sounding because its was reversible. after pride and prejudice and some law and order episodes, i finally understood the concepts the directions tried so hard to explain, and away i went! you would think after so many hours of trying my damnedest to make this thing look decent, i would really be into making it. well, i have a lot of animosity towards scarves, and this is like doing two at once. so like, double that animosity, add plane travel time, and ive made a whopping 12 inches in between airplane naps and sitting around in the last month. i mean, also there was that argyle vest and all, but thats really unimportant because i hate scarves. also, this one looks just like a stack of andes mints, which i also dont like. someday, i'll finish it though!

so while that was insanely boring, i still liked the idea of a reversible scarf. maybe just the reversible part. and i liked the argle vest, because i was always paying attention to the pattern, which was good. so i said, i will make reversbile argyle scarf! and after some more frustrating hours, i was successfully able to make a reversible argyle pattern. my problem was that i kept trying to make each side look like knitted v's, which i guess isnt allowed in reversible world. i think for this project, it worked out okay because my colors are pretty similar, so its just an added way to differentiate the pink and the tan. that's only 8 inches long, but it has a much higher chance of being completed than that other atrocity of a scarf. speaking of which, i will probably have to start putting rings around my neck to be a little bit more giraffe-like because that thing is so thick that it probably won't fold very nicely. pleh.
