Eunny's Argyle Vest

Whoot!
so, tonight i could no longer swallow any more of the math i didn't do over break, and i took a knit break. i really think "obsess" would be a great way to describe the need to finish this vest and make it right (dammit). i made the arm band tighter (again) and ran out of yarn, so i bound off with white.. i guess its ok. here's a pic half-way through:
the little pink spot (its a marker) indicates the tightened cuff.
and here, 1.5 law and order episodes later, is the finished product!
the front is still puffy, but maybe this sweater vest just has character. unlike eunny, i didnt match at all in my model outfit.. but heck, just picture me on a golf course.. doing the carlton dance.

Knitting Break
instead of going somewhere exotic where clothing isnt entirely necessary for spring break, i went home. and instead of staying out at the bar all night and drinking myself silly (which i must say is a good time), i stayed up all night, many nights and did what? oh yes. i knitted. sometimes i only slept for three hours because knitting was so incredibly imperative for my very existence. my first project was a dog sweater, pictured here sans a model, so i dont really know if it fits. i did that monday. i had a hard time taking a picture that shows the colors well, but whatever. for that, i mostly followed the pattern from stitch n' bitch nation, but i kept the entire thing on a round instead of opting to sew a seam up the middle.
then! after i finished the dog sweater and did some spring break shopping (yay) the yarn i was anxiously awaiting from knit picks came (3 skeins of cream palette), and i was off and running on the argyle vest! this post would really be interesting, but instead its not because i decided i didnt need to take any pictures of people or places over break, so i didnt bring my camera. bad move! but anyways, i really thoguht this would take all of 2 days to do. thats not true! for everyone following in eunny's footsteps, this takes a long time!!! i really thought i was done on friday, but the entire top was hugely large, so i redid the edge ribs, and blocked the top flat because those steeks sure make the entire thing quite thick, and now the top is just like kinda loose. so i think i will redo the arm hole ribs tighter because the arm holes are kind of gapingly large, and i think thats what screws up the fit. i'll post a pic of me in it once i feel like it fits evenly, cause now thats not the case. although it is pretty! also, i ran out of green yarn, so the arm ribs are short, so i think i will buy more yarn *and* make the rib tighter. my goodness. this is the never ending project. and i get so impatient to finish a project once i get started, which is why i knit through the night, and this time i am continually redoing things. posh.

The Vest!
Eunny has started a trend. not only has she starrted a trend, but my knit adiction has most definitely been rekindled. did i do homework this weekend? yeah right. i was barely able to pry myself from my needles to go to work... and i need money to buy yarn!! obviously that is why i work. but i *need* to knit this vest! i want to see the argyle.. i want to tell everyone i am making a super vest.. i want to imagine the day that i actually find myself wearing vest, with pride even.. and most importantly-- i want to find out if this vest will fit! i like to try things on as i go, and so i have been splitting up the-story-of-the-vest-so-far on needles and pulling it on to see if it is ok... but the arms? i wont know until its blocked and cut and steeked. very suspenseful. im not so sure about steeks either. i made a practice steek that seems to be doing ok, but its only about two inches tall, and definitely has no worries about strenuous use or anything. maybe i will block it and see how this sticking happens. someone should give a seminar about the similiarities between water molecules and wool steeks.
anyways, ive done a few more rows since this picture, but here is all five inches of my wonderfully wonderful vest so far:
